Keeping Me In Stitches

About me

1. I have two daughters & two sons.

2. My two daughters & 1 son all knit. My youngest will learn to knit soon. He just learned to tie his shoes

3. I have three dogs. A lab (Carmen), a sable sheltie (Macy), and a blue merle sheltie (Topper). The first two are girls, the last is a boy & the dumbest thing on four legs.

4. I also have three cats. All three are boys, all three are Maine Coons. One is brown/black tabby (Caspi), one is orange/white tabby (Poncho), and one is black/white tabby(TwoTone).

5. The oldest cat, Caspi, is named after my youngest son’s heart surgeon.

6. I am 31, will be 32 this summer.

7. For the most part, I am enjoying my 30s.

8. I do not tan. I freckle. Alot.

9. My hair is naturally red. It’s getting darker as I get older. Don’t like that much.

10. I have been a server (waitress) for nearly 10 yrs. I’m ready for a grown-up job.

11. I have one associates degree (liberal arts) and am halfway to my second associates degree (computer information systems).

12. So in essence, I’ll be going from being a server (waitress) to working with servers (of the computer variety).

13. I live in a 125yr old Victorian house w/ two coal burning fireplaces, hardwood floors, and original wood throughout. You can see our house here on my Flickr

14. But my kitchen sucks. I have no counters, no cupboards, no dishwasher, no workspace period in my kitchen. Thank goodness for the butlers pantry or I’d be stashing boxes of macaroni in my dresser drawers.

15. I love to cook but not bake.

16. I don’t like cake. Or frosting. Not even cheesecake.

17. I crocheted before I knit. I’ve crocheted for 20 yrs. Knitting for nearly 4.

18. I have only been to three concerts in my life. And three of them were in the last two years. The first was Donny Osmond when I was 4, then REO Speedwagon in 2005, and Trent Tomlinson last summer (2006).

19. Surprisingly, considering #18, I am a rock/metal/punk music fan. I love the 80s hair bands, Seattle Grunge bands, as well as My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars, Simple Plan, Nickelback, Good Charlotte, and Green Day to name a VERY VERY few.

20. I was widowed when I was 23. He was 25. We had three babies, 6yrs, 4yrs, and 7 months old. It was Christmas Eve 1998, he was 27 and had a cardiac arrest brought on by a congenital heart defect called Ventricular Septal Defect.

21. I remarried in December 2000.

22. I gave birth to my fourth & final child on September 10, 2001. The last ‘normal’ day of our lives.

23. My fourth child was born with a congenital heart defect. Ironically, the same exact heart defect that my first husband died from. His heart was repaired March 2002 at Children’s Hospital New Orleans.

24. I hate feet. *shudder* – the only exception is baby feet
25. I twirl my hair when I’m bored, tired, or just because.

26. As a child, I hated chocolate. I didn’t start to like it until I was pregnant with my first child. Then I carried bags of Hershey kisses & peanut M&Ms in my purse.

27. As a child, I also hated macaroni & cheese.

28. I’m still a picky eater as an adult, but not nearly as bad as when I was a kid.

29. I am the oldest of six.

30. I have three brothers and two sisters.

31. I have 6 neices and 11 nephews.

32. I have never seen any of The Sopranos, Sex in the City, or Desperate Housewives.

33. I am addicted to coffee. Love it, can’t live without it. Why would I want to?

34. I have to shower in exactly the same order every time. Wash/rinse hair, condition hair, shave while hair is conditioning, rinse conditioner, wash face, wash body (top to bottom), rinse and get out. No dawdling.

35. I can’t even relax in a bathtub. I get bored after about 3.5 minutes.

36. I’m an uber fast reader. I can read an average sized novel in less than a day (300-400 pages). This never ceases to amaze my husband lol.

37. I love a good scarey movie. But it has to be good enough that I don’t predict the scares & it actually makes me JUMP!
