I just can’t believe how addictive (and fun, and quick) these are to knit! I started this one about a week ago and to be honest, I probably could have had it done over the weekend…but I didn’t pick it up AT ALL between Saturday and Tuesday. I was working on the darned blanket.

I used Patons Classic Wool in Black and Winter White and size 10.5 bamboo circular needles (dpns for the i-cord).

Here it is pre-felted (with my 30g video iPod for comparison):

And here it is felted (again, with the same iPod):

I finally got mail! In this house, hubby is always the one who gets mail and packages. I get junk mail and bills lol. Today I got not one, not two, but THREE packages!! “Big Book of Knitting” from Annie. Huge thank you! That was wicked fast! Be on the look out for a thank-you package ๐Ÿ˜‰
Also in the mail today was something for my Knitter’s Treat Exchange partner. I just need to get one or two more things this weekend and hopefully be sending it out sometime next week.
Sometime last week I was having a really bad day. My computer program wasn’t working the way I wanted to, my kids were being butts, it was cold and not very spring-like…so I had a little retail therapy ๐Ÿ˜ฎ and this is what I bought:

Artyarns Ultramerino 8, color 123. I swear the picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s a wee bit brighter and oh so soft (rubbing it on my cheek as I type..). Here is a close-up:

And also this:

Artyarns Supermerino, color 107. Again, way brighter in person than the picture suggests and it’s almost as soft as the ultra merino. No ideas as to what I will do with them. Right now, I’m just satisfied with petting them ๐Ÿ™‚ Both were purchased at Sarah’s Yarns. Fantastic service, super fast shipping. I ordered on April 16th and opted for parcel post shipping. It arrived today, the same time as another order from another online store (can’t say, it’s for my Knitter’s Treat partner) from whom I ordered on April 12th!! And that’s all I have to say about that ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here’s a close-up of the supermerino:

Now I’m off to fix that pesky computer program once and for all dang it!

Started Saturday evening, used this random stripe generator for the stripe pattern.

Finished knitting Sunday afternoon.

Felted Monday morning.

Assembled Monday afternoon.

I love this pattern!!

Or Booga, as the case may be ๐Ÿ™‚

She is finished!

The story. I started out on Monday using size 9dpns. Once I got to about row 17 I realized this was going to be one VERY small bag if it felts as much as others in Patons SWS that I’ve been seeing. So Tuesday I pulled it all out and started anew on newly acquired size 10.5 bamboo needles. I didn’t get any progress pictures of the new size, it went by too fast. I started knitting the bottom of the bag during economics class around 10am and it was finished while watching LOST Wednesday night, sometime between 10pm and 11pm. Not nonstop knitting, mind you…as I have classes Tuesday morning & evening, as well as having to take kids to & from school. There was a trip to the dr’s on Tuesday afternoon that got me a good 45 minutes of knitting in. Then classes again Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, where I cannot knit during class.

I started the i-cord Thursday morning and finished it Thursday evening. Felted it Thursday night, let it dry over night and this morning I cut the i-cord (gasp!), poked the holes in the bag and threaded the i-cord through (by far the most difficult part of the whole deal).

Here is the picture timeline:

Finished knitting, unfelted:

The bag, drying after felting:

And all finished (but in desperate need of a shave!):

I am in complete & utter love with this bag! I am going to give her a shave ๐Ÿ˜† and take her to work with me to show her off. I can’t wait to show my two knitting professors! And I can’t wait to make another one!

And since I have joined Project Spectrum and the colors for April/May are green/yellow/pink…I think this qualifies. What do you think?

Booga bag is entirely knit and felted. It’s drying over night. Tomorrow I will poke the holes & insert the i-cord. It’s B-E-A-UTIFUL! Pictures will be forthcoming tomorrow. I’m currently on my laptop and it does not like to accknowledge my camera or my cardreader. Bugger.

I really am very happy with the way it felted. I was a little ‘felt-shy’ after my last experience. But I have to say Patons SWS felts wonderfully. A little fuzzy, but very nice. I ran it through the cycle twice because after the first time there was still a little too much stitch definition for my liking.

Anyway, tomorrow will be a nice picture heavy post ๐Ÿ™‚

Until then, I’ll leave you with this little bit of Kitty Goodness.

Here they are, the finished pair:

I did finish them Sunday night as predicted. But my spring break is over, so back to school I go. This is the first chance I have had to update the ol’ blog.

They are so soft & comfy. I am definitely hooked on merino. If socks are this soft, I can only imagine how heavenly a whole sweater would feel knitting in this stuff. Mmmmmmm!
I’m still working on the All Season Shell. It’s slow and kind of boring and I’m still not ready to go back to the never ending baby blanket. So instead, I started the Booga Bag. I’m doing it slightly smaller, size 9 rather than 10.5US and I’m using Patons SWS in Natural Pinks. I’m liking it so far, plus this yarn is a dream to knit. LOVE IT! Here is my progress just from 2 hours of knitting (off & on interrupted) this afternoon:

This will be my second attempt at felting. The last time I felted was a complete failure. It was with a different wool though. This time I am prepared. I know that this yarn felts fast and sheds A LOT! Not looking forward to the 5-6 feet of i-cord…maybe I will buy one of those Wonder Knitter thingies that they have at Michaels…

I still have three projects on the needles:
*Sweet Stripes Baby Blanket
*All Season Shell
*Booga Bag
